Basement Refinish

We have talked about refinishing our basement for years. I had taken over both bedrooms upstairs and there was barely room to walk. I then took over part of the living room and part of the main floor bedroom.

Last August through December, we had the basement refinished and I love it.  I thank my Momma and Daddy every day for helping me achieve this goal.  I have been very blessed.

The space is roughly 1280 sq feet and divided into basically 4 sections.  I have one section totally finished and the other 3 sections are in process.

Here are pictures of the main sewing area.

Before:

This was before we cleaned every thing out. I had my stained glass here but had not worked on it in several years. Floors were concrete.  Ceiling unfinished.  Walls were concrete blocks.

During:

This is after everything was cleaned out and they had started framing.

Dry Wall going up.

Painting has been done and flooring is in. Ceiling finished.  Oreo was inspecting the work!  I still do not have my windows yet.  They had to be ordered and supposed to come in during March.  I am adding a ruffle to the curtains but want to wait until my windows are in.  Need to make sure length is correct.

We will be putting in gas logs when they come in.  I will move stuff out of the fireplace.  Right now, I am blocking any cold drafts with a piece of insulation that I use for a layout board.  To the right are sewing machines.

This is my cutting station on the right and my pressing station on the left.  The tables are standing height.  I have pegboard on the wall for rulers, scissors, etc.  My husband gave me the sewing machine on the left.  It is metal and says "Janet's Sewing Room."  My daughter gave me the sewing machine on the right.  It is hand painted on maps of Asheville and Lewisville.  It was made by a local artist in Asheville.
Here are closeups.

This corner has my embroidery hoops.

I really like this arrangement.  My Solaris sits on the table to the left and my sergers are on the right. I can embroider and then turn around and sew on my sergers.  Very convenient. Can watch one and work on  the other. Recently, I have made a lot of quilts on my serger. Very fast and easy.

This is my TV and computer area right not.  Getting ready to make a few changes here.

I hope to have an open house but I am still waiting on some things to happen.  In the meantime, I am really enjoying my space and the opportunity to use this great space.

Until next time, Happy Sewing!

Janet
