Baby Lock educators #6

Another great Baby Lock educator is Lori Hernandez.  She has been to Sewingly Yours teaching a class. Very delightful and full of energy!  She is proficient in embroidery, sergers, IQ Designer and sewing.

1. Find her Facebook page here.  It seems to be a mixture of her personal page and projects from her business.  It is interesting to read.

2.  Her Instagram page here seems to be more about her business.  She also runs the Serger Fun Club with Embroider Shoppe.  She has great projects.

3.  She does have a website located here.  In Baby Lock Tech 2022, she taught a class on setting up the hexie files.  If you like hexies, you can crank out a bunch with your embroidery machine.  She then sews them together with a zigzag stitch on the sewing machine.  Fast way to do hexies.

4.  Check out her blog here.  It has many videos about IQ Designer and I just discovered she has one detailing how to create fills for the Big Dream Panel on the Solaris.  I need to go watch that one!

5. She also is on You Tube.  Her channel is here.  You can also do a search on her name and find her on other channels also.

Lots of education and project inspiration on her website and social media channels.  Check it out.

Until next time, Happy Sewing!

Cover Stitch Machines -- Check It Out!

I am doing some research on ways to use your cover stitch machine and have found lots of great information at the following websites.

Decorative stitching on cover stitch machine

A cover stitch machine is not only for knit fabrics.  I use it as decoration with all types of specialty threads on tote bags. I also use it for finishing edges on 2 hammocks that I made for the long arm machines at Sewingly Yours.  I made them out of  woven fabric and use them to keep the quilts from dragging the floor. You can see it at the bottom of the picture here.

Check it out.  Until next time, Happy Sewing!

Looped needle threaders make long arm needle threading easier.

I have been using these looped needle threaders on my Coronet for a while.  It makes it easier to thread the needle and also to see if the needle hole is straight.

One end goes through the needle and the thread can be pulled through the loop in the front.  After the thread is in the loop, pull the threader through the needle.

Threads from front to back with no difficulty.  It can also be used on sergers and sewing machines when needed.

We carry these at Sewingly Yours if you want to purchase.

Until next time, Happy Sewing.

Deb Canham's Day Tote Class

Spending the day in Deb Canham's Online class sponsored by Sewingly Yours.  Using Facebook Live and it is a different way of doing things but I like it.  This class was scheduled at our store the last of March, 2020 and we all know what happened to the end of March!!

I used an HDMI cable and hooked the notebook computer to the TV.  Easier to see what she is doing on the big screen and the sound is much better also.

Here is a shot of my set up.    Computer on the desk with serger below the TV.

Here is part of the project on the serger.  I am doing straight line quilting using the chain stitch with decorative thread in the needle.

Here are the pieces and parts to put together tomorrow.

Until next time, Happy Sewing!

Serger threader

This is the handset gadget ever if you have trouble threading your machine. It is called a serger threader but it can be used on all sewing machines.  You will need to push the wire in from the back side of the needle and then put the thread in the wire in front of the needle. Pull the wire from the back and your needle will be threaded!    Sewingly Yours has a new supply of these. Get one while they last!

Until next time, Happy Sewing!!
